DOC’S GIRLS

My new book comes out—November 18th. Take a peek:

Investment guru, KC Shuster, did not return to work in Chicago after a three-month sabbatical. When no one hears from KC—Kate to her family—and a private detective fails to uncover anything of importance, her father asks his two older daughters, Ava and Piper, to find her.

While recently widowed Ava needs a break from Atlanta society and secrets bombarding her from beyond the grace, Piper questions the wisdom of staying in her marriage to a struggling singer/songwriter in Nashville. For different reasons, each welcomes the role of playing detective while renewing their once-close relationship.

Will they find Kate when professionals could not? Will they embrace what they learn about themselves and love on their quest?

The story’s not set in Lansdale, Wisconsin but in London, England; Chicago; central Illinois; and the Alabama Gulf coast. The main characters are three thirty-something sisters. The basic question behind the story is: What lengths would you go to in order to find your missing sister? https://mybook.to/FindingKatebyKJLigon

I have been a big sister nearly my entire life. My first sister was born when I was not quite fifteen months old. I am the oldest of ten, six of them sisters. Like the Shuster sisters in Finding Kate, I was one of Doc’s girls. Only my father was one of the veterinarians in the small town where I grew up, not a physician.

In a small town, people know who children belong to when they see them out and about. Especially if they are somewhere they should not be. The lady in the grocery store or the neighbor down the street might not know my name, but she’d know I was one of Doc’s girls. There was a security about that and a bit of annoyance. The Shuster Sisters and the situations in the book are an amalgamation of events and character traits of my sisters, of mine, and a large part of pure fiction thrown into the mix. After all that’s what authors do, they make up stories!

I’m very excited that for the fourth year in a row, I am doing a book signing at The Tuscaloosa Midtown Barnes and Noble in the afternoon on the second Saturday in December, December 12th. Finding Kate will be available along with my other six books. I hope if you are in the Tuscaloosa Alabama area you will stop by for an autographed book and a hug from me!

BOOK SIGNING SATURDAY DECEMBER 12th Noon to 4 PM

I am thankful to the Wild Rose Press for continuing to publish my stories and I am especially thankful to all of you for buying them, reading and reviewing them, and never failing to ask when the next book will be out. It is gratifying to write the stories the good Lord puts on my heart and to share them with an appreciate audience. Thank you for the continuing support and encouragement on my author journey. Blessings to you and yours in this season of gratitude. Enjoy!

RETURN TO LANSDALE

At age twenty-five, Janet Marshall returns to the small town where she lived as a foster child. There, she reconnects with childhood friends and has a job she enjoys. But something is missing. After Abby, Janet’s college roommate, calls to arrange a weekend visit, Janet soon discovers her old friend is frightened and running from something—or someone. Without warning, Abby is gone as suddenly as she appeared but leaves something for her trusted friend. Can Janet find it in her heart to reconstruct her life and embrace this gift?

My sixth novel, the fifth one set in the small town of Lansdale, Wisconsin comes out on Monday, May 18th. It may be read as a standalone novel, but you’ll recognize several of the characters from Landing On Her Feet and other Lansdale stories.

My book signing for this novel–and my other five–is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd from Noon to 4 P.M. at the Tuscaloosa Midtown Barnes and Noble. I hope you can find time to pop in for my latest book and an in person hug from the author.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement as I continue my author’s journey. I certainly never expected it to extend to six novels. This story is one that insisted on being told. When characters appear in my dreams, the only way I’ll get any sleep is if I write what they are demanding I tell you.

I owe an extra debt of gratitude to my sweet husband who read what I believed was the final draft and told me Janet Marshall, my heroine, would never make it to the state line before she would be arrested for kidnapping. I was devastated and didn’t have any vision for how to fix my story. Several days later, he came to me with a solution that allowed me to salvage large portions of the original story, but keep Janet on the straight and narrow. He declined the opportunity to be co-author, but he should be. It was surprising since every minute I spend writing, is one minute less that I have to build structures on his model railroad layout. Guess that’s why we’re still married after almost fifty-one years.

Thank you for reading my stories, for reviewing them, and for asking for more. It brings me so much joy to share them with you. I couldn’t do this without you. Enjoy!
